Yin yoga is a predominantly floor-based practice where poses are held for longer durations (3 to 5+ mins). We target the deeper connective tissues in the body that are not normally targeted in a hatha or vinyasa class. This includes tendons, ligaments, joints, fascia, and even bones!
A complementary practice to our practices that embody the energy of Yang, Yin promotes flexibility, joint mobility, reduced stiffness, improved energy flow, and encourages a mindful, meditative state.
Yin can even be seen as a way to unblock meridians or energy channels in our body. We will explore the 5 Chinese elements in themes and over time some main meridians as we deepen our yin practice together.
