Join us from the comfort of home for a gentle, accessible chair yoga practice designed to support healthy movement through aging, injury, recovery, or changes in mobility.
Led by a certified yoga therapist, each class blends functional movement, mindful breathing, and guided relaxation to help strengthen the muscles and bones, maintain joint mobility, support balance, and nurture emotional well-being. Whether you are new to yoga or looking for a more supportive way to practice, you will be encouraged to move at your own pace and choose the variations that feel appropriate for your body.
This is a hybrid class, taught live with students participating both in person and online. Livestreaming makes the class accessible to those who cannot easily travel to the studio, are recovering at home, or simply prefer practicing in their own space while still feeling connected to a welcoming community.
Functional movements that support balance, coordination, and everyday activities
Gentle stretches to ease stiffness and maintain range of motion
Strengthening practices for the legs, core, back, and upper body
Seated options throughout the class, with optional supported standing movements
Breath awareness, mindfulness, and guided relaxation
Encouragement to rest, adjust, or skip any movement that does not feel right for you
No previous yoga experience is required.
Please create a quiet, well-lit practice space with enough room to move your arms and legs without encountering furniture, pets, cords, or other obstacles. You will need:
A sturdy, stable chair that does not swivel, roll, rock, or fold
A yoga mat or another nonslip surface, if available
Yoga blocks or thick books
A yoga strap, belt, scarf, or long towel
A blanket and small pillow or cushion
A bottle of water
A reliable internet connection and a device with working sound
If you would like the instructor to see your movement, position your camera so your full body and chair remain visible while you are seated and standing. Please join a few minutes early to test your sound, camera, and setup.
You are responsible for choosing movements and variations that feel safe and appropriate for your body. Online instruction does not allow the instructor to provide hands-on assistance, physically stabilize your chair, or continuously observe every participant. Verbal options and general modifications will be offered, but they cannot replace individualized assessment or in-person support.
Please remain seated whenever standing does not feel steady or comfortable. Standing portions are always optional. Do not attempt a movement if you feel pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath, weakness, or instability.
If you have an injury, medical condition, recent surgery, significant balance concerns, or are returning to movement after illness or recovery, please receive clearance from your physician or appropriate healthcare provider before participating.
If you need assistance getting into or out of your chair, standing, balancing, transferring, or moving safely through your home, please arrange for a trusted adult to remain nearby throughout the class. A livestream instructor cannot provide physical assistance in an emergency.
Registration is required for this donation-based livestream class. Please plan to arrive online on time, as each class begins with a grounding practice to help you settle into your body, your breath, and the present moment.
Come as you are and explore a supportive path toward greater strength, mobility, confidence, and whole-person well-being—one mindful movement at a time.
